How to stop blinking picture on Sony Bravia 40W705C please? (it flashes only when I use VGA to HDMI converter)

Troubleshooting VGA to HDMI connection.

I have purchased a VGA-HDMI converter to connect my old Sony Vaio laptop to Sony Bravia smart TV. The connection works but flashes (picture and sound) as if it would reset itself, leaving the screen blank with no sound for a second. This keeps on repeating itself with annoying frequency.

If it's happening through the converter, try a different converter or maybe a different cable.
