Hi, So my setup is less than ideal but it works mostly for now, it is the way it is because I have changed from ADSL to VDSL(NBN Australia).
Firstly this is my setup: Netgear DM200 VDSL modem which connects via ethernet into the google wifi system which connects into the DLINK DSL-2470-B modem/router (the wifi is turned off and is not connected to the phone jack) which connects my non wifi devices (PC, ethernet over power) to the internet.
The DLINK was my previous modem/router (Separate question: Can this be replaced with an ethernet switch box?) and for some reason, some devices e.g mobile phone, revert back to its local IP which keeps the device connected to the local network but loses internet connectivity.
If I pull out the ethernet cable connecting the DLINK to the google wifi pod and refresh the devices wifi connection, it then reconnects to the internet but when I plug the ethernet cable back into the DLINK, after a random period of time it reverts back to the DLINK IP.
The DLINK has a completely default setup with only the DHCP turned off as this is handled by the Netgear DM200.
When any of the WIFI devices are connected, they use the google wifi systems IP.
So, my question is, Is there a way to stop devices reverting back to the DLINKs IP?
Thanks
