Win10 indicated my NVIDIA Geforce 330M driver on my laptop with Hybrid Power technology is not compatible, but continued trying to install with many install fails, which created huge amount of restoring points eating my System Partition.

How to tell Win10 to stop upgrading my PC but keep Windows 7 automatic updates ?

Solution
Solution 1

1. Task Manager, processes, find and end GWX.exe
2. Control Panel, Uninstall a program, View installed updates, WAIT a long time
3. Now, enter KB3035583, uninstall it
4. Restart the PC
5. Disk cleanup, do both steps including the one for System -- this takes a while
6. You should find a file there that is about 5 G. It is the Win10 downloaded file. It will not be called that, but it should be the only very large file other than Winupdate cleanup, which you can do at the same time.
7. Delete
8. Restart
9. The startup will take a long time while it finishes cleanup

Solution 2

If anybody has a ZoneAlarm Pro firewall, you can utilize the "Expert Rules" in the Advanced Firewall area. Other firewalls may have similar features. In ZA, goto "Firewall Settings" and click on "Expert Rules." Click on "Add" and in the "name" type "GWXConfiManager.exe. In the "State:" type "Disabled," In the Action pane type: "Block." If you want ZA to "Alert and Log," you can choose that feature.
I did this on my computer and ZA has effectively blocked the GWXConfigManager.exe without having to do anything to the registry. If you decide to upgrade, all you have to do is change the rules in the "Add Expert Rule" feature. I will eventually build a Win 10 Pro machine from the ground up without having to mess with upgrades that may be problematic in some if not most instances. Hope that this helped.
