Windows 10 does not give the option to not update on consumer versions. Only the Enterprise, Professional and Educational versions of Windows 10 allow you to turn off automatic updates and update manually. There is pretty much no way around this without one of those versions.
True, and you can also enable metering AND set the times you don't want Windows updating. But as far as disabling automatic updates altogether, you must have one of those versions to do that.
Yeah, you CAN do that, but I believe when I've tried that in the past I've found that it has broken some other aspects of Windows until it was re-enabled. I guess it's worth trying if you really want to do that.
