Hello,
I plan on pairing a Kaby Lake G4620 with H110M-A motherboard and would like to know how I can tell whether the motherboard comes with the BIOS update necessary? I have my whole build but have yet to set it all up. I have heard reports of some who ordered the motherboard receiving it with the necessary BIOS update. So, how can I tell that whatever reason the PC doesn't start is indeed caused by this incompatibility between motherboard and processor? Thank you very much for any help,
Joseph P.

Solution
You can't tell from the uninstalled motherboard. But if you bought the board recently, it will surely have a late enough BIOS to recognize the G4620. That CPU requires the 3016 BIOS. That version was released in Dec of 2016, so it would be highly unlikely a recently bought board would have an older BIOS unless the place you bought it was from somewhere that has very little turnover of that product.

I never knew that. But it doesn't seem to work for 2 my Asus boards. The one I'm on now for instance (H110M-E) has a serial number ending in 5467. The BIOS is 3016. Not even close. But it would be a good idea indeed if the manufacturer printed the BIOS version on the label.

Not serial number. There's a sticker (on h110m-k for example it's in top-right corner) that has last 4 digits clearly separated from rest of code.

Oh. OK. You meant on the board itself. My mistake.
