how to tell if game is running in 1080p,1440 or 4k

So a game like rainbow six siege i run at 1080p but then another display after that is 2560x1440p is that whats considered 1440p and if theres no resolutioin after that how could the game run in 4k?

1920 x 1080 is considered full HD, 2560 x 1440 WQHD and 3840 x 2160 or 4096 x 2160 is 4K.
To know the resolution of the game, just look at the game settings.

Resolution goes by the capabilities of the monitor and game and cant increase resolution past the monitor's limit. For example there are 1080p, 1440p as you said and 4k monitors available for purchase. Depending on the optimal resolution capabilities of the monitor will also depend on the game and if it also has the resolution to fit natively. Modern games have support for high resolutions as that's whats current. Older games with no high resolution support in the UI can sometimes be edited manually in a config or ini file if your lucky or there may be an HD pack available.

Searching an old game and resolution you want can sometimes find related discussions. ie Doom 1 4k for example can lead you to mods that can take original Doom to graphic enhancement mods.

also more specifically to rainbow six siege 4k ultra pack there is a requirement for a 6GB vram gpu card for the option for 4k to be available.
