Hello, sorry if this is the wrong section for this post but i did not find another one related to audio headsets xD, i gladly own a pair of sony mdr zx100 which i use to listen to music on small devices like my phone or ipod, etc.. And i love them! The sound quality is great, but a few days ago the left speaker started failing and it doesnt work anymore, only the right one sounds, ive opened the left side to examine it and i doesnt seem to have any cut wires or anything, so my question is how do i tell if that speaker is failing or if its the jack plug thats chipped/broken??

Solution
If you try it on different devices, and twisting/spinning the 3.5 jack dosent fix (even momentarily) the issue, then its likely the speaker.
If wiggling the jack works it either the jack thats failing, or the port (this is why you try multiple devices)

Look at the plug itself, there are 2 rings around it. One of those sections is ground, and the other two are left and right respectively. If one of those is damaged, then the headphones may only operate on the still functional part.

Hello... a VOM meter? Volt-ohm-amps? Typically a local store bought one these days do... a "multi-meter" will work great, look on the Dial switch for "OHMs" set at 2K - 1K or auto range setting... connect the ends to the speaker wires/terminals, WiTH NO Power on the other end of the headphones.
