How to tell if my laptop supports SATA II or III?

Been trying to figure this out for a while and haven't solved it yet! I wanted to install an SSD onto my laptop. Problem is, I can't find out if it supports SATA I, II, or III. It's an HP Pavilion g6-2123us. The motherboard is a Hewlett-Packard 1849 (Socket FT1). The CPU is an AMD A6-4400M if that helps at all in anyway. I'm just having a hard time finding out the SATA stuff. Can anyone help me out? I've been told if I have the motherboard then I can just look up the SATA speed and I couldn't find anything on it. 🙁

Don't worry, they are all backwards compatible meaning you can use a SATA 1 drive with a SATA 1/2/3 connection. It will just suffer a TINY bit in terms of performance.

Having SATA ports that operate at 6Gb/s is a big marketing point these days.

HP's product specs on the laptop don't specifically say that it supports SATA III, so you should assume it doesn't.

Ah ok. Yea sorry I'm new to the whole SSD connection stuff. It feels like how USBs are with the whole 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0.

If you decide to get a SSD you should still get a SATA III drive even though you will be connecting it to a SATA II port. SATA II SSDs are "old tech".
