i have an old 2006 dell monitor that i accidentally knocked over my desk and it fell to the floor. the screen still works, there' no crack or anything, aside from a small blue line which have appeared.

i remembering that old LCD monitors have mercury in them, and since i dropped it does that mean i should not use it anymore? because it could be constantly leaking out mercury vapor from the back or something?

thanks for letting me know

If the backlight is working, then there's no leaking mercury. The only place mercury is required is in the ccfl bulb, a fluorescent tube. Broken tubes don't light up.

LED backilit LCD panels have no mercury at all, but of course tend to not have as accurate colors.
