How to test if power supply works?

Hi, my question is how can I test to see if my PSU works? I have tried connecting one of the molex connectors on my PSU to my fan, but the fan didn't turn on. I have no idea if this is because it's DOA, or because there needs to be a certain connector plugged in. Can someone help?

And what is this PSU connected to?
A whole system? Or are you just trying to 'test' a suspect PSU?

Wait, have you tried turning the system on, with everything plugged in? Obviously it wont turn on if the unit is DOA. If you have another computer lying around you could try it in that computer to see if it is a PSU problem or other components are causing the problem.

All I had plugged in was the molex connecting to the case fans. Really hope that's why it didn't work

Sorry if it was unclear btw, the PSU was connected to one molex in my case that's supposed to power on all the fans
