How to test what part of the pc is broken?

Hello,

One and a half year ago I bought a new PC but now it crashes when I load up any game or movie. what could it be? Its not like a blue screen. The PC is frozen and the only way to shut it down is holding the powerbutton for a while or pulling the plug. I don't know what part of my PC is broken.

Can someone help me. Any help is appreciated
