So, i am asking if there is a valid way to test long used power supply and making sure that it is still running properly with no issues and specially also under load ?

My PSU : Seasonic SS-750JS Active PFC F3

Thanks,,

No, not really. You can determine if it is dead with a multimeter or the paperclip test but most just swap it out if in doubt. HERE is how Tom's tests PSUs under load and few of us have that gear.

Thanks for the link, i will look through it.

Not any easy way without $10K worth of testing equipment.
The "paper clip" test is useful only to confirm a dead psu.
Yeah i know about paper clip test, but the thing that my PSU is not dead.

And the $15 testers on Amazon DO NOT test a PSU in the manner you are asking about (actual load testing).

How old is your PSU?

About 12 years.

Honestly, it is time for a new PSU.
I won't argue, the thing is i believe seasonic is considered one if not no.1 manufacturer for power supplies.
And if i am planning on upgrading buying new PC, there is no currently available seasonic PSUs in my local market and i am afraid that i will be losing premium psu which still outputs and delivers.

What is your budget and from where do you buy PC parts?

Seasonic is a great brand with excellent products. I have used many of them. However, there are others just as good, if not better.

I would replace and keep the venerable Seasonic as backup device, in case you ever needed for troubleshooting or repairing another build with minimal power requirements.

Very low budget indeed 😄 as in this case i am going to buy full new case just except for HDDs, SSD and with adding this long live veteran PSU.

if you may suggest other equal brands as seasonic to be considered just in case?

12 years ago maybe this was a pretty decent unit but for todays standards it's crap.
Seasonic is just a small manufacturer, not even in the top 10 of the world. They have some high end models but also totally crap units. There are OEMs that make a lot better PSUs. So don't bother with Seasonic. Any half decent recent PSU is a lot better than a 12 year old Seasonic.

Thanks though.

I did manage to find one seasonic psu - Seasonic Core Gold GM-650 650W 80Plus Gold Semi-module, but unfortunately it comes with only 1 CPU 8-pin when my motherboard ASUS Prime Z790-A with 14700K advised to have 2 8-pin connected to CPU power supply.

What comes next in list with 2 8-pin cpu connector in my local market are :

- Antec NeoECO NE750G 750W GOLD Full Modular
- SilverStone DECATHLON DA850 - 850W ATX 80 PLUS GOLD (Full Modular)

With Antec being cheaper by more than 32$, what is considered better choice and overall good quality psu as i am going to pair it with RTX 4060 OC 8G GPU ?
