How to throttle a CPU

Hi, is there a way i can throttle down the perfomance of a Pentium M chip in my laptop so it generates less heat? Im not concerned about performance I just want the CPU to run coooler.

i think it has intel speedstep so it should do it automatically on windows

Look at your Power Options ..... should be options for Hi performance at one end and long battery life at the other....longest battery life will put it on its lowest power settings.
