[SOLVED] How to transfer OS from HDD to SSD ?

I want to make my SSD (which is completely empty) a boot drive and have my HDD (which has my OS on it + games and stuff) specifically for storage, is there a way to do this?

If you only want Windows to be on the SSD (ie no games or other stuff) you will have to do a fresh Windows install on the SSD (make sure the HDD is disconnected temporarily while you do this).

If the OS is Linux and if the HDD is not larger, then you can use a tool such as Clonezilla to clone the HDD to the ssd.

What size/make/model is the new SSD?
How much space is consumed on the current HDD?

OK, that cannot work for a migration. There is not function or application to migrate 'just windows'

You'll just have to do a full OS install on the new drive.
(and a 120GB SSD is TooSmall)

Oh, I though 120GB would be enough for the OS alone, do you have any recommendations?

For cloning to be possible, size of new SSD has to be larger than used space on your HDD.
So, if used space is 500GB, then SSD needs to be larger. 1TB for example.

You can't clone "only Windows".
With that much space on your current drive, you need a 1TB SSD.
