News How to try Windows 11’s Recall AI feature right now, even on unsupported hardware

I only use Windows because it is forced on my work machine. You can steal and data log whatever you want on that thing!
Thank you Microsoft for giving me those extra nudges, over the past few years, to learn about and embrace Linux.
I'll never come back to your ad infested, spyware ridden, AI infected GARBAGE OS!

The Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3 is a dog that loses to 5 year old smartphones, so it's not surprising that it takes a bit of time to use Recall. The fact that it can run it at all demonstrates that it's not the powerhouse feature it's being marketed as, but given the privacy concerns I won't complain that this feature is artificially restricted to the latest processors.

Windows: Takes screenshots every 5 seconds.
Me: Hey Windows, what was that thing I did 6 months ago?
Windows: That data was overwritten 3 months ago.

About sums up how useless Recall is.
I doubt it's saving the physical screen shot. It's most likely running it through a segmentation and OCR model and saving the text and features that were in use at the time along with what processes were active into a local database for retrieval later. It might save a thumbnail for reference, but I would be surprised if the actual screen shot was saved...

Though we are talking about M$ here so maybe I wouldn't be too shocked.

They say 25GB will be enough for 3 typical months, so I assume it's actual images.

It can't be that because Recall is supposed to be able to bring up the screenshots it takes according to the promos, though the database would make for a quick index search for the screenshots.

I know some people that will jump on this at the earliest possible opportunity.

Me? hahaha...not a chance.
I am jumping away... why would you want this on unsupported... fact it doesn't work on it is a great bonus. Don't need to avoid 24H2 on any PC unless its a Snapdragon and just ignore the feature completely.
