So guys i have 2 motherboards(Asus Z87-K and a Gigabyte Z97-HD3) The Z97 doesnt even allow me to set the 4 core turbo to 40 ratio but the Z87 allows me to do it but doesnt load it into windows any ideas how to get it to work?
I have seen alot ov videos that show it can be done with asus boards but i cant do it with this one, should i try to downgrad ethe bios to an older version? any ideas?

Hi guys so i have asus z87-k and a i7 4790, i have seen a lot of videos that show u can turbo lock the cpu to 4.0GHz at all cores (not just 1) so i tried it with no luck, i asked around the forum and a user said that there was a microcode update that patched the exploit, and i have seen forums that show u can downgrade the microcode with a motherboard version downgrade. So any thoughts guys? should i try it? is it even possible?

Downgrade bios to microcode 7 , i have max turbo all core 4790 on b85m d3h
Would you mind sharing? I already arrived at the UBU tool forums and downloaded the tool. But to be honest, It seems like a herculean task. Its way over my head. I mean, Im sure I could give it a go and probably do it... But Im terrified I might kill my only functional PC in the process... If you have any "how to... For dummies". Id really appreciate it.

Thank you VERY much. i was able to downgrade the microcode. That was the easy part. The HARD part was flashing the damn edited BIOS back since I have an ASUS with no flashback.
The "trick" of using EZ flash on AI tools worked though....
What Im trying to figure out now is if it would be possible to undervolt the CPU. Cause its obviously producing much more heat (and sucking more voltage) now that the 4 cores are at 4GHZ.
But if I try to undervolt it the CPU automatically clocks down to 4x3.8 (stock speeds).
And that speed gets "stuck" even if I disable the undervolt. I have to actually uninstall XTU and reboot for the "overclock" to come back....
