[SOLVED] How to turn off display manually? - Configuring close lid does not work

I want to manually turn off my display so I can listen to music from my laptop sometimes without the screen on. I'd prefer not to close my laptop lid to prevent wearing the hinges.

I tried changing the close lid options and set the power button to turn off display but nothing happens.

Does anyone have a solution?

Look for the Display Power Off Tool on Sourceforge. it should do what you want.

You have an Acer laptop. My old Acer would let me turn off the backlight with Fn + F5 or F6. I'm not sure if Fn is turned on by default, so maybe just pressing F5 or F6 could be enough.
