How to turn off home wifi modem from my phone

I would like to turn off/on my home wifi modem from my phone

1. If you mean "turn off or modify wireless settings", then some companies like Asus has a mobile app. This only works if you're connected within the network.
2. If you mean "power off the device", then you can hook it up to a smart home plug and use their app to cut power to the plug using your phone provided it has internet access. The phone does not have to be in the network for this to work.
