Hello,
I have a version of Windows 7 that contains Windows XP. How do I turn off the XP Mode?
Hi Gerry,
By default, Windows 7 does not innately include Windows XP. It may be possible that you have either a dual boot environment with Microsoft Windows XP Home / Microsoft Windows XP Professional or a virtual solution most commonly referred to as Windows XP Mode with Virtual PC.
Select versions of Windows 7 (Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate) do allow the installation of XP Mode and Virtual PC if one wishes to run an incompatible application (for example) within a virtualized environment of Windows XP Professional. XP Mode, as well as Virtual PC, does need to be downloaded, installed and configured to run properly.

If you previously installed Windows XP Mode with Virtual PC but simply wish to uninstall the application now, there is a very helpful library article available
here. This article will walk you through the steps necessary to remove Windows XPMode as well as the steps for deleting a virtual machine.
