How to underclock Intel Core i5 6400?

Long story short, but I am in a situation where I am troubleshooting my computer and I need to know how to underclock my cpu. If I could be told how to underclock a gtx 980 nvidia graphics card that would also help. Thanks

I doubt you can underclock the CPU at all unless you have a Z170 motherboard and correct Bios or an Asrock Hyper series motherboard. You can use MSI afterburner to change the clocks on the GPU. What problem are you having?

In Windows Power Profiles, you can specify the maximum processor state. If you set it to 1%, the CPU will stay at 800mhz.

Long story short, you can't underclock the i5 6400. And it's also extremely unlikely you'd ever need to, it's already a low-power CPU.

You can underclock a GTX 980, using overclocking software like MSI Afterburner or EVGA PrecisionX.

But if you think underclocking will solve your problem, its possibly a PSU problem as well, especially if you got a cheap low quality one.
