How to underclock Turbo Boost

Hello. I have a i7 4710MQ, it is mobile because I have a laptop. Each of its core offers a base speed of 2.5 GHz but can dynamically increase clock rates with Turbo Boost up to 3.3 GHz (for 4 active cores), 3.4 GHz (for 2 active cores) and 3.5 GHz (for 1 active core).

I want to decrease its Turbo Boost clocks and limit to 2.8 GHz for all cores. Why I want to do is 2.5 GHz is perfect for cooling which doesn't go up 70 celcius in very intensive games but in the other hand I think it is not fast enough at 2.5 GHz as it should be. I use this CPU with Turbo Boost disabled all the time. Because up to 3.5 GHz core clock makes my laptop very hot and the cooling is not handling very well. So I want to do this solution, limit all cores at 2.8 GHz.

First of all, is it possible? I mean I heard Intel XTU can do this and it looks like that is my only option right now because I am not able to unlock advanced features of my BIOS.

How can I do it with Intel XTU if it is possible? I am posting a screenshot of my XTU settings:

If I do that settings in my screenshot, will I achieve what I need? Or is there else something I need to do? I am naive at overclock/underclock so I will be very greatful of your help. Thanks in advance.

Intel XTU actually works, cpu's turbo boost clock doesn't go over 2.8 ghz which is great but it seems I have to open Intel XTU everytime after reboot because otherwise it reverts back to default settings. As soon as I opened Intel XTU my settings start to working. I placed it in startup menu, now it opens at startup but it opens with fullscreen. I tried to run it as minimized but it didn't work. Any suggestions?

You didn't read my first post it seems. I have no problems with disabling Turbo Boost. Thanks anyway

Oh, sorry! Maybe, try MSI Intel Extreme Utility. From there, i can change my Turbo Boost multiplier (but i don't know if it is the same on a laptop mobile cpu)

MSI Intel Extreme Utility and Intel Extreme Utility are different things? I think they are the same but I don't know. By the way, yes I can change Turbo Boost multiplier too and already did that, only problem I have right now is that my changes revert back to default as soon as system reboots. I placed PerfTune.exe (Intel XTU) to startup but it opens with fullscreen, I don't like it. Is there any way to start XTU as minimize? Thanks.

I don't know, sorry..

No worries, I have found a solution (well, almost). There is an app called ThrottleStop, it can exactly do what I want from XTU besides it can start with Windows and as minimized. I have set all multipliers to 2.8 GHz and everything works, so I have no need XTU anymore. Except for one thing. RealTemp is my favourite app for real time monitoring and it doesn't work with ThrottleStop at the same time. 🙁 That is unfortunate because I think RealTemp is good for monitoring than ThrottleStop. Still, I'm glad that I have achieved what I need.
