How to uninstall mspaint

Click Start, Settings, Control Panel.
Double-click Add Remove Programs .
Click the Windows Setup Tab
Double-click the Accessories icon and check or uncheck paint depending upon if you want to install or uninstall mspaint

I hope this helps.

Why?

Because MS Paint is pretty much useless, safe for total newbs who have never heard of Paint.NET, and have never progressed beyond the most childish doodling, such as "Rage Guy" comics.

Once Paint.NET is installed, MS Paint remains the default editing program. So when you right click on a JPG, then select Edit, the program that comes up is still MS Paint.

There is no way to remove MS Paint like there was on Windows XP, which is the instruction given by snakebitex. (Wake up! This is a Windows 7 forum.) The uninstallation of MS Paint is not an option in "Turn Windows features on or off".

The only way to uninstall this pesky program then is to go into your Windows folder, search for mspaint.exe, take ownership of it, and finally remove it. Then the next time you select Edit, you can pick your favorite picture editor.

doesn't shift-right click open with, chose paint.net and then click always work?

And don't be rude, it helps no-one.

If expressing one's distaste towards something can be construed as rude, you must live a pretty cloistered life. Anyway, I'm not here to pick a fight, but to point out the obvious to our friend 2 floors up, and to provide an answer to the original post, one which you answered with "why?" That is not helping. Perhaps it isn't a problem to you, but I know where he's coming from, and know it too well.

I recently just downgraded from Windows 8, so again had to remove MS Paint. And once again Google brought me to this thread. I seriously don't see why they had to remove the uninstall function on Windows 7, especially when Windows forces file association with this redundant program, unlike Media Player or Internet Explorer. And this feature removal has been carried over to Windows 8.

No. The problem isn't with right clicking and changing the default program to view the image files with. When you right click, high above the context menu there is a selection called "Edit". When clicked, Edit will take you to your program of choice. In everyone's Windows OS, Edit will simply open your image with MS Paint. Before Windows 7, you only need to remove MS Paint, install Paint.Net, and Edit will launch the latter program. It saves you the bother of having to drill into a second menu, and picking from a list of programs. Of course, you can also drop Paint.Net onto the Taskbar. But why waste a feature like Edit?

So, for the nitpickers and perfectionists, this is the solution:
