I have installed windows 8 32 bit on my pc, but I have bought an extra 4gb ram, I want to upgrade it to Windows 8.1 64 bit. So that I can use the whole ram. I want to know if I uninstall Windows 32 bit, will my drives be safe?
If your data is on a separate partition (even if it's on the same HDD/SSD), you can simply format the partition with your current Windows by using your Windows installation media and proceed with the fresh install. However, I'd strongly suggest that you backup all of your important information (not only because having a backup is always recommended), but also because if you are not 100% sure what you are doing, you might end up reformatting the wrong drive/partition and then you'd have to try your luck with data recovery software. It's better to be safe than sorry.
