Hello, I bought an Acer predator 3000 po3-640 gaming computer, I bought a new RAM with xpm profile 3200 hz. But it works at 2666 and the xmp profile is blocked! I updated the bios to the latest version and did the default settings. Deleted the supervisor password. Nothing helped! Help me please!

Hey there,

Your CPU only supports speeds up to 2933mhz. I can't find your mobo to determine it's max mem speed. Chances are it's limited to 2666mhz. Either the IMC on the chip or the mobo are preventing faster speeds. If there is no option in bios, then you cannot OC the mem (XMP)

RAM is all the same, with xmp profile support, I would like to raise it at least up to 2933, is that impossible?

If the BIOS or chipset don't support XMP profiles, you're out of luck.

I suspect this Acer computer is prebuilt for people on a strict budget. Anything not required to make the system run will be omitted to reduce costs.

Prebuilts and general office computers are not designed to be upgraded with faster components by the end user. You choose a configuration offered by the manufacturer and that's it.

The most you can probably do is fit more RAM or a bigger SSD. Upgrading the GPU won't be possible if the power supply is too weak.

The BIOS are locked because they don't wish for you to mess with settings like XMP or overclocking. Nothing you can do.

Those are not low budget PC's they come with good CPU and GPU.
The BIOS are locked so you can't change some things and probably come with the PL1 & 2 lowered to help with heat.

My mistake. I was using my phone earlier and didn't check the specification of the Orion 3000 PO3-640. I agree it's not an entry level PC.

For that amount of money though, I'm sure I could have built a faster rig myself, or gone to a company where each component is itemized, allowing you to choose from a wide range of well known mobos, CPUs, GPUs, RAM, storage and cases.

With a custom built PC, you end up with a system crafted to your exact requirements, but they take all the stress out of building and testing the machine. They can also advise on the best combination of components.

A custom made PC is a bit like a tailor-made suit, as opposed to one off-the-peg, but doesn't necessarily have to cost more money.

The short answer is, no. You cannot. Unless you get a new mobo. The CPU itself, and with Intels strong IMC, the CPU would work fine with 3200mhz. Without that support on the mobo, you cannot go beyond the set spec.
Thanks for your answer, I'll leave 8x4 2666 instead of the standard 8x2 3200, I think it's better right?
