Hey so I built my pc expecting to need mirrored drives. It has been 2 years without any failures so i feel like I would rather need the space then to mirror. I am looking to unmirror it and was wondering how to go about it. I looked on youtube but it seems like everyone wants to mirror, not reverse it. Thanks for the help.

I would expect that breaking a RAID1 would involve locating the metadata. If these are at the beginning of the drive, then one could simply move and edit the MBR and partition table.

A tool such as DMDE should be able to do this with a few clicks.

It is just the simple one, exact bit by bit. I don´t remember what it is called but I think you understand. I did some more research and I figured out that I want to remove the mirror, not break it. I need to wipe the second hdd so that I have more unallocated space. Thanks for the help!
P.S. if you could direct me to a link that would be great too!

In my opinion the easiest way to do this would be to transfer the data over to a different location, then use disk manager to set the drives up the way you want. I am not certain, but I think if you try to just take it out of mirror that it may either lose the data anyway, or it will throw up warnings about the missing drive.

No. I can't guess that. You have to specify, what RAID solution you are using - software, hardware. If hardware RAID, then also specify hardware used - motherboard model name or RAID controller model name (if you're using RAID add-on card).

To do that, you need to break the mirror. Or else your mirror RAID will operate in failed/degraded mode.

Can't direct you to any link, since you did not specify anything about raid solution used.

Just check now, RAID1, thanks for the clarification
