how to unpark my hdd

I have a 100 gig HDD for my laptop and I was told that its Been parked. My laptop will not register the hard drive. How do I fix it?

The hard drive may be defective.

As for the "parking" that's an automatic thing every drive does on shutdown. I'm not aware of any fix.

Chances are it is not parking causing the issue since many laptop drives park often to keep the drive head off the platter in case of a drop or other vibration(my WDC Blue parks after only 8 seconds of inactivity).

A 100 gigabyte drive has most likely lived it's usefulness and simply fail due to old age.
