how to upgrade BIOS

could anyone please tell me how to update BIOS as i have bought asus h81m-d and i5 4460 processor. it's a brand new not yet assembled , should i first assemble then update ? or how to update BIOS before inserting processor?
 
Solution
You can't update the BIOS on most motherboards without a CPU. That CPU requires BIOS 505 which was released in January 2014. You are probably OK to just assemble it and THEN update to the most current (2204) BIOS.
DO NOT upgrade a bios unless the update will fix a problem that is impacting you.
A failed bios update can permanently brick your motherboard.

A motherboard will come with the most recent bios version at the time of manufacture. You will be fine unless you bought some very outdated stock.
Go ahead and assemble. The bios screen will tell you what your current bios level is.

Then, if you want, you can look at the asus support page and see if there are any later versions and what the update fixes.
