I want to upgrade my packard bell as high as possible or at least high enough for gaming. I have no idea what to look for or what will work.
Using it for a boat anchor would be an 'upgrade'.
There are basically zero parts you can use from that thing that would mate with anything built this decade.
Welcome to Toms!
The best way to upgrade a Packard Bell:
1. Remove power cord from back of the computer (It's the long black cord plugged into the wall socket.)
2. Throw what is left into the trash.
3. Replace it with new computer.
4. Place the power cord from step one into the matching input of the new computer.
5. Done!
Kidding aside, Packard bells were built strictly to the lowest cost. They used different motherbords from different manufacturers for the same model PC. They locked everything in the BIOS for no upgradeability. They used the minimum PSU to barely power the system. As USAFRet said, there is NOTHING in the box worth saving, or that would "work and play well" with current components..
