I know I already asked this but this is for the Alienware X51 R2...
How do you upgrade it because I have no idea how the Power Supply of the Alienware X51 R2 looks like so I can change with the new one. The Alienware X51 R2 only has 330 watts and I'm planning to get a GTX 970 SC but for that I have to upgrade the power supply... I bought a 600 watt Power Supply and I'm wondering how to switch out the 330 watts to put in the 600 watts. :)

Solution
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't your X51 R2 have an external power supply in the form of an AC adapter (like a laptop)?

If it does, that's because there is no room for a conventional PSU inside the system case.

i dropped a OEM version of the gtx970 into my X51. running stable with the 330watt psu, no by my understanding the new 970 (http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-970/specifications) is more efficient in power consumption then my old 670 (http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-670/specifications). the 970 runs at 145watts the old 670 runs at 170 watts

correction i did use evga precision x to throttle the gpu power down to 95% due to the fact that when i played SIMS 3 i would get a hissing noise from the PSU, but all other games no problem, battle field 4 and hard line 60 ish fps on high settings, planetside 2 running about 55fps on high settings and smite on ultra settings getting 150 fps

check out my youtube channel on how to do that without putting motherboard into new case or buying their expensive psu..all you need is 400w external psu actually 500 or more is better but 400w works
