i wanted to build a pc but then i considered the money i could save if i just used some of the things ive got as they should be more than up to the job... but im here to double check and see your honest opinion,

i currently have gtx 970 but i want a 2080 minimum! from what i can tell all i need is a graphics card, more ram i have 16gb ram but i want to go overkill and get 32gb. also want more SSD space.

what do i need to change to get high fps on games like gtaiv or really good benchmark scores ?

what i want to use/keep from my current pc

CPU
Intel Core i7 4790k @ 4.00GHz

Motherboard
Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 7 (should i keep it or upgrade to _ _ _ ? )

PSU
Antec TruePower Quattro 1000 W
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000QW9DS2 ( should be enough juice so why replace it if its not broken )

Case
Antec 1200 eATX
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/antec-1200-twelve-hundred-ultimate-gaming-case-black-ca-102-an.html
(massive case should fit any parts with plenty of space )

Monitor
Zowie XL2740 27 240hz 1ms

Keyboard
Razer BlackWidow Chroma

Headset
Logitech G633 Gaming Headset

what is your ideal budget range?.

ive seen people pair 4790k with a 1080 ti which is somehow around the ball park of 2080/2080 super performance so if budget is really tight id keep the cpu and mobo,

for 32gb of ram, its really a waste of money unless you do actual work, like photoshop or large databases or for basic workstations, you really wont and never see a performance bump from having 16gb or 32gb so that money is better spent on other things if budget is tight.

Time to change the CPU and motherboard too. Better get a 8th gen Intel CPU upgrade meaning that you need to change the motherboard too. You can pair the i7-4790k with the 2080 but the CPU can hold this gpu back. so better upgrade to the 8th gen CPU to squeeze every drop of performance out of your 2080. I guess the 2080 super will be the best choice to pick in terms of getting a new graphics card.

this is the ideal upgrade for you, also you might wonder why a new powersupply well 1st of your psu is old especially in its design and safety features, so its best to not risk it especially with a high end graphics card on board.

yeah better to invest on the 1080ti if he wants to keep the CPU and mtoherboard. But he really wants to buy that 2080 then he needs the CPU which can onpar work with the GPU. Plus we dont know what ram and how much ram does he currently have though.

what i mean is 1080ti is the same as an RTX 2080/2080 super they perform the same and its really almost impossible to find a brand new 1080ti even if you do it might cost as much as a 2080 super so no point on the 1080 ti. so yea he can pair his cpu with an RTX 2080 super and he should be fine.

i like to future proof stuff especially computer parts, so i like the best available but i cant justify a titan x lol so im the type of guy who has a gtx 970 and upgrades his gpu to a rtx 2080 ti but i understand what u were meaning with the 1080ti thing

my budget is £3,000 if i need to replace the mobo to get the best performance i will
if i need to replace the psu because its not up to the job or its dangerous i will

i do really want a i9 with a 2080 ti ... that will have me above average in terms of performance for a good few years

thanks for the info and the partlist, im not keen on msi personally always been intel/nvdia and stuff
what you think of https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-GeFor...NG+X+TRIO+11264MB+GDDR6&qid=1569166784&sr=8-5 compared to the one u suggested, granted its more expensive

i cant seem to see which graphics card you mean by the link. but looking at it its a RTX 2080 ti which is more expensive since its the highest end consumer gpu available one can be bought at around 1,200USD+ so yea it would perform better but going for 2080 ti you might see bottlenecks there, its a pretty fast card and 4790k probably wont cut it meaning you wont see a performance bump from using a RTX 2080/2080 super vs a 2080 ti in most cases since you would be CPU limited for an RTX 2080 ti route you would need a much faster cpu.

but if you mean by Asus strix RTX 2080 super ,i really dont see the point of the price asus strix cards costs, if money is no objection they are arguably the best choices, great cooling, quiet fans, great overclocking support and are very extreme overclocker friendly (LN2 and such) but the MSI RTX 2080 super gaming X trio or EVGA, Gigabyte equivalents are good options , cant go wrong with any one them it falls down to budget and user preference, like me i do prefer MSI GPUs over Asus in most cases my dream GPU is the MSI Lightning z RTX 2080 ti for example.

if you have that much budget you can just get an 9900k with a 2080 ti and you should be fine. assuming your budget is just for your pc alone that is.
