How to use a WD My Book World Edition in Windows 8?

I've been using this network external hard drive for my backups for years. Just bought a new computer with windows 8 installed and the WD MBWE software doesn't work on the new OS. I want to be able to access the files on the hard drive to transfer my songs etc to the new computer. Anyone got a clue?
I've been messing about with it all day and getting nowhere.

Yeh it's up-to-date but its the 1st gen of this line and there's not been a new version in a few years. Thanks anyway :-D
