[SOLVED] How to use earphone mic in laptops?

Hi so I bought a dell inspiron 15 3000 series laptop, its a pretty basic laptop.
Now it only has one port for headphone jack, I usually use the earphones which came with my phone on it. I want to use those earphone's mic too but my laptop only uses its built-in mic. Is there anyway I can switch it to my earphone's mic like we do in smartphones?

rt click on the speaker icon in the bottom right of the desktop and click on Recording devices. See if yo can change to the earphone mic. but just to let you know, some of these budget laptops only let you use one type of thing at a time headphones or mic
