How can I use i7-4790K integrated graphics with an ASUS Maximus VI Formula motherboard without a graphics card?

Yup, make sure the BIOS version you have will work with the i7 4790k. If not, Your motherboard support BIOS update without a cpu installed as long you have power to it, so you don't need to get another motherboard.

Sorry i misread. I thought this was another question entirely. . As far as i know there is an option in the UEFI BIOS to enable onboard graphics or Quick Sync or it may even say something about LucidLogix Virtu MVP Technology but i think they might have only used it with Z77, and it did not catch on but it still uses the HD Graphics Core
and yes You can use Both

I know it's the weekend, but I'm amazed at how fast you guys responded to my question. I greatly appreciate that.

What I tried to do prior to asking my question was sort of what you suggested, but didn't work.

I got the BIOS update and copied it to a flash drive, changed the name, and put the flash drive in the USB BIOS Flashback port. Pressing and holding the ROG Connect button did not produce blinking green.

After reading your responses, I tried it again. This time it did produce blinking green.

I plugged the HDMI port into a monitor, and it stays black.

The motherboard shows the Code A3. I switched the RAM from the red to black (which I saw worked for someone on another post).

Still A3 and black.

What else do you suggest?

I tried both a USB key with Windows 8.1 and DVD with Windows 7. Neither shows anything. But the computer will reboot with Ctl-Alt-Del. It seems the HDMI port won't connect to the monitor.

The monitor works with another computer.

I'll try another adapter.

Thank you all for your help.

I'll be back as soon as I get another adapter.

SO what is going on there now, did you get it working? and what was wrong again? questions on the threads do fork direction often.
