Hello everybody   , I currently own an ocz vector 256 gb ssd and a velociraptor 1tb 10,000rpm hard drive. I have only installed about 10 programs on my computer and found out that my ssd is more than half way full.I found the culprit to be the program files (86). I have heard of people having 60gb ssd's for their gaming computers. How do they not max out their ssd's in like a week. And how can I save program file space.

All suggestions are welcome

The first thing you'll want to do is use the custom install feature to select the HDD as the destination hard drive for all but the most commonly used programs - store all data and programs on the HDD, do not let the computer automatically select your program or file save destination

Will this make my hard drive the c: drive?

Because I want the boot up speed to be like using an ssd.

It will not change the designation of the drive, in fact what you end up doing is select custom install, then when the default destination shows, usually C:, you'll select "browse", then select a folder destination on your D: drive (assuming the HDD is D: ) - most often you can select just the drive (D: ) and the install program will (should) create the needed folder(s) within D:

So basically I am moving all of my windows files to my hdd and using the ssd as a secondary drive

Nope, your primary drive should be the SSD as C: which will (should) contain your OS (windows) and only programs you use very often (if even those). Your secondary drive, D: will act as your storage drive and program launch drive but you'll need to force it as the storage drive especially when doing program installation (but not the OS or OS updates which should be on C: )
I realize it's a tad confusing...
Here's what I do for SSD setup and use
Before putting the HDD into the computer, I install and setup windows on the SSD and do all needed updates. Once that has completed, I place the HDD into the computer. All programs installed from this point on go onto the HDD but it neds to be forced since most programs will want to default to the C: drive

Your OS and [vital] drivers belong on the SSD. Maybe one game that you're playing at the time, if you want. Since the Windows files are automatically on "C:", name your HDD "H:". Say you want to install Steam. Why does Steam need to be on C:? By default, it will go there, but in installation options, you can choose it's own location. If it doesn't need to be on the SSD, don't put it there. Here's how I have mine set up.

(SSD) OCZ Vertex 4 128GB named C:
-contents:
----Windows installation
----Video Drivers
----Google Chrome

(HDD) WD Caviar Black 1TB named H:
-contents:
----Programs (note that this is not the Windows default "Program Files x86". This is a folder I made)
--------CCleaner.exe
--------SpaceSniffer.exe
--------...
----Games
--------Steam.exe
--------Origin.exe
--------SC2.exe
--------...
----Movies
--------Forrest Gump.mp4
--------Shawshank Redemption.mp4
--------...

Even if all programs default to the c: drive, I install it on my D: drive, but the program files are still in my ssd.

And some programs don't install without being on the C: drive.
