How to use many HDDs At Once?

I am planning to get an NZXT H440 case, and I noticed that it supports 11 HDDs/SSDs via various trays and slots. How the absolute hell are you supposed to even get that many working at once? The most I have ever seen had only 8 SATA 3 ports. Does anyone know why this case supports so much storage?

So does the Phanteks Enthoo Pro M PH-ES515P. The drives are attached to a LSI 9265-8i which leaves most of the motherboard SATA ports unused.
