How to use monitor native resolution?

I'm running a 1440p monitor from a laptop (I don't have the computer built yet, but I wanted to test the monitor) that uses 900p. However, the maximum resolution I can get the monitor to use is 1080p. I'm using HDMI, so the resolution should be able to reach 1440p. How do I do that?

Sorry for the late reply, but my "gpu", integrated graphics 3000, can support 1440p, according to my quick research.
What can I do to activate the 1440p?

When I did that, I got no signal from HDMI.
