[SOLVED] How to use only the mic from a headset

Soo there was this headset that i had but broke it. The mic it had was perfect so i wanted to keep it, so what i did was open the headset, take the mic and the jack it was connected to, cut of the 2 (speakers?,drivers? you get it). so i was left with the the mic and the jack. when i connect it to the laptop though, the mic will only start working if i set it up as if it is a headset. if i chose the mic in option it will not work. so my question is: can i connect the mic as a headset and play sound from the laptop's speakers?

If you buy a jack Splitter, and plug in the mic part of the jack, it might work. Those are cheap so it could be worth a shot.
