How to use pci fax modem with windows vista home premium and gateway pc

I have a Gateway computer that came with Windows Vista Home Premium, 32 bit operating system. I has a PCI Fax Modem that I can't figure out how to use. Can anyone help me?

PCI fax modem is really a dial up modem where you can use it for connecting to the internet via regular phone line thus the word dial up.

You can also use it for sending fax, again via your regular phone line BUT regular long distance calls will apply if you are going to send fax to a long distance number. You need a Windows fax program to do this. Windows has a built in fax program.

If you don't want to pay long distance or you don't have a phone line then just use an online fax service instead. Check out Onesuite Fax, it's prepaid and I've been using it for years.
