Hello,

I've bough two 12v Artic F12 Pro case fans and I need to wall power them (we use 220v in my country) so I can use them to replace shitty coolers in the "Cooler Master Notepal U2 Plus" cooling pad

Artic F12 Pro technical sheet: https://www.arctic.ac/worldwide_en/arctic-f12-pro-std.html#techspecs

What would I need to buy in order to safely wall power them? (if possible, would like to connect them both to the same wall socket)

Thank you very much!

Solution
No problem. You'd need a plug adapter if the one in your country not similar to US, then a splitter
https://www.amazon.com/Phanteks-3-Pin-Y-Splitter-Cable-PH-CB-Y3P/dp/B00M0R9BV0/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1514459402&sr=1-4&keywords=3+pin+fan+splitter
You'd cut the end of the power adapter and the single end of the splitter and connect the +12V on the power adapter to red on the splitter and GND on power adapter to GND (black) on the splitter.
The yellow one on splitter remains not connected https://forum.level1techs.com/uploads/default/original/3X/c/f/cf50e545602e40caaeebaa34d0a9ada6a8b9e720.jpg

I hope it was clear enough.

Hi

You are right, I don't have the required knowledge to do this alone, but I'll just pay a technician in a repair shop to do ir for me :), or will ask help from a friend who knows about this stuff

I need this because usb cooling pads are pretty weak, they can look good but will just decrease about 2°C, and I need at least a reduction of 6°C (after disassembling Thinkpad x220, cleaning everything with compressed air, removing old thermal paste and reapplying new, it still reaches 92°C temps when playing Project Zomboid with lots of zeds on screen, otherwise it's fine, but I want to play the game without processor throttling in order to avoid being melted)

Thank you very much, already ordered both items :)

Regards

You're welcome. It's very simple. You can't fail in connecting the wires. It's not rocket science :)
Please post back when getting the items and we can go step by step through the process.
I don't find earthing necessary in this case. Really, it's using a 1.2 A 12v power adapter...

I don't know what is a earthing, lol. But there is no cooling board, the fans are attached with some kind of clips to a metalic structure with a grill, where you put the notebook

Great! I appreciate that. Will post here for detailed instructions as soon as I get all the items (probably a month and a half, Argentine mail is veeery slow)
