Hi everyone,

I'd very much like some help with wiring led lights to my car's audio system. My intention is that the lights pulse with the subwoofer bass. It's my understanding that I can just wire them directly inline to the wiring going from the amp to the subwoofers, but I've done some research and found that I should have a resistor and/or fuse in place to prevent any damage. I understand what I could do with a fuse, but the resistor idea has me confused. I used some physics equations and kept finding that if I was to use a resistor it would need to be 0 ohms, which makes no sense whatsoever.

( The reason it keeps coming out to 0 ohms is that the leds I purchased are 12 volt, and so is the car battery. The initial calculation I need to do has Source Voltage-Led Voltage, thereby setting everything afterward to 0 ).

So in short, how do I wire these led's safely, if possible? Thank you everyone, in advance.

Hey, my friend had the same problem on his jeep, butttt we decided to wire it directly to the subwoofers wire ports. All in all while he had it connected for about the 3 months he used it, it worked just fine the entire time and ended up taking them out just because of the amount of lights he had and the tint he has just made it too hard for him to see out of the windows at night. He still has them in for parties and just for whenever he feels like using the lights but he just leaves them unconnected until he wants to use it.

He was also thinking about putting some sort of switch connector between the sub ports and the light wires just so he can easily switch them on and off instead of having to unscrew the sub wire ports and take them out just to put them back in later that night. So if i were your you could probably look around online and find some sort of switch for it i dont think the resistor is needed, its never felt like real hot maybe just a little warm but in my friends experience it was perfectly fine without a resistor.

Hmmm. Okay. I'll wait to see what some others have to say about it but I was thinking I'd probably be okay without any precautions. Do you happen to know if the led's he purchased were also 12 volt?
