how to work with testdisk

need help my external hard drive is corrupt so im using testdisk to rebuild its boot sector don't know how exatly please help

tanx for annswering is there any way to rebuild mft when it's back up is bad?

If the master and backup MFT are bad then testdisk will not work for you. I do not know of any free software that will work in this case. Zero Assumption Recovery might be able to but its not free.

can it rebuild mft or somethin without affecting my data? because i dont want to lose them

because i have 930gb data on it and dont have another external hard to recover them on it
