How well will a Athlon II 630 run BF3?

I just upgraded my 440 to a 670, but I'm still stock with a Athlon II 630.. How will it run games like BF3 or planetside 2?

yea CPU will just be a huge bottleneck maybe not even drive the GPU upgrade your CPU to a 3570k and get the 670 you will be amazed

Its not that bad, the single player bf3 will be fine but large multiplayer maps you will have to lower the settings. Planetside 2 I cannot find any post beta benchmarks but it is over the system requirements so will play it but I don't know on what settings.

Planetside 2 will tank as it's very CPU heavy especially in large battles.

I'm upgrading to a 3770k in the summer, but i don't have the money right now. My friends told me i would be fine.. Is there a cheep AMD solution that can run a large BF3 game, till i can upgrade again?

You are near the top end of the Athlon series, none of the inexpensive AMD chips will give you any meaning ful increase in processing power. So its either a Phenom, a Zambezi or wait.

Your 670 will be carrying most of the load. An OC will help on multiplayer.

What is your motherboard and RAMs ??

My mobo is a acer frx780m and i have 8 gigs of ram (I think it's 1333 MHz)
How much OC will i need to do?

OC'ing on an OEM motherboard is likely not an option, though typically with ddr3 1333MHz, the system sweet spot for OC'ing would be 250MHz (x14 with your CPU).

The other issue which cpmes to mind: Did you also upgrade your power supply? An OEM PSU will not run a 670.

To be honest you would get EXACTLY the same performance in BF3 singleplayer with the Athlon and a Core i7.
The game really isn't CPU dependent.
Multiplayer is another story though.
In Multiplayer, you'll actually see a difference, if youre playing with more than 32 players.
Otherwise you'll get the same performance.

Planetside 2 however is Extremely CPU dependent and it also performs surprisingly bad on AMD CPU's.

Upgrading to a Core i7 can give you up to 70% more FPS.

I'm decideing between the 8350 and the 3570k, because i also do 3D rendering

The FX8320 can save yah $20.

Or, you can move that Propus quad into an AMD 990FX AM3+ motherboard, and overclock it to 3.5GHz

Your Athlon II x4 630 'Propus' CPU will move into an AMD 990FX AM3+ motherboard, and you may then over-clock it from stock 2.8GHz to 3.5GHz.
