(Feel free to ask why but I heavily prefer Intel and Nvidia over AMD)
There has been a lot of talk about Battlemage possibly having huge performance gains however if it was to be put into comparison to an existing GPU what would it be closer to (like a 4090/4080 or even a 50 series card ?
(Although I do know results for the 50 series is barely out there since the 50 series isn't even officially launched yet and the specs are only rumoured).

We'll know at launch or press releases.

I would not expect anything close to the high end 40 series cards, let alone 50 series. I think their big GPU is going to end up in an AI processor. Intel gaming cards are going to be mid-range at best, however they still have an advantage over AMD in ray tracing.

Still looking forward to it. Next gen mid-range on a TSMC node should be quite good. Particularly if they have worked out whatever problem keeps Alchemist from working to its full potential.

If you look at raw stats though it compares favorably to the RX6800.

A770 16GB

RX6800 16GB

4060 Ti 8GB/16GB

I believe there was talk of a 24GB card from Intel for Battlemage. If we assume that adds 50% to the counts of everything. Of course they could increase beyond that if they wanted to.

**Battlemage BMG-G10 (A guess on the name)

That would put it roughly on par with a 3070Ti in terms of hardware

Or a 7900XTX

Given that the A770 bounces around the 3060/3060Ti and 6650XT/6700/7600 range of performance, and we assume that Intel can fix the issues and new silicon will have rough performance equivalent to AMD, plus 50%, then I think that 7900XTX performance is reasonable to expect. That would put in the higher end of the next gen mid-range. If it is $500, a win, maybe even $600 which would eat the 4070. But all AMD has to do is drop the price of the 7900 series when they launch 8000...I expect Nvidia to price itself out of this level of performance entirely.

Not all shaders and TMUs can be interchanged, just have to look at the benchmarks for that. So this is all napkin math.
