😀 I am getting a computer with the following card. It is a AMD Radeon HD 6450 and want to know how well it should play the sims 3. I only ask because the computer i had before had an integrated card and quite frankly ran it like crap.

thanks for answering

the 6450 is one of the weakest gpus made, it is designed to replace the painfully slow 5450, it is a very low end gpu, for the sims something like a 5670 should do just fine and not require much power at all

but a gpu is not everything that matters to gaming, what are your full system specs and your monitors resolution?

These guys don't know what their talking about...

The Sims 3 has extremly low system requirements.

My partner is running a e2220, 2GB DDR2 & a HD5450 and plays Sims 2 at maximum settings with a descent frame rate.

She plays WoW Cataclsym at fair settings with a high resolution and gets over 60 fps.

Sims 3 seems to have similar system requirements to WoW Cata, so I would guess with settings on medium and a semi descent resolution you could probably get 40+ fps atleast.

you are so full of crap it is beyond my comprehension. you are the only person in the world that is playing any games at 60fps with a 5450, it must be your nuclear power supply and flux capacitor setup.

You forget OLD games don't have high GPU requirements, it runs over 60fps in non populated areas and dips to 30-40 in very populated areas.

I was very happy with the purchase =)

If you're going to buy a dedicated graphics card, at least buy something other than the bottom of the barrel. Probably a 5570 for ATI/AMD or a GT430 for nVidia. Not that there's anything wrong with buying the lowest end dedicated card, but the added performance isn't justified by the price.

I would stay away from the AMD Radeon HD 6450 graphics card if you are doing ANY gaming at all, no matter how low intensity. I found this out the hard way, not researching, and just shopping for a cheap PCIe graphics card to replace the 1 I blew, for playing some games. I cannot play ANY of my games with this crappy card because it does not support the directdraw acceleration or direct3d acceleration that is required to run for the games to operate. I can't even launch any of my games with this piece of dirt card. :fou: My fault for not doing homework I guess, but this is a really horrible card for any gaming. I would give it ten thumbs down if I had ten thumbs, and that's for the 1gb version lol.
