How well would this laptop game?

Well, the i7 is certainly not too shabby, but the 840M isn't great

Check this out and see if the game you would like to play is in there and you should get a ballpark figure on how well it'd do

The specs are ok for light to medium gaming. The only thing I have a problem with is that it is a hp and they don't have a very good cooling system. This will impact while playing games.

It depends on the game. If the game requires a lot of cpu power then yes. But otherwise no.

I am assuming its just intel integrated graphics, so at 720p, it should be playable. with a game like minecraft you would get 45-75 fps pretty easy, but with a fast graphic intensive game I highly doubt you would get any more than 30fps

you guys think i should grab the acer or the hp? Whichnwould be best bang for my buck?

Out of the 2 I would go with the hp as the cpu will make a huge difference in games that require a lot of cpu power. But if all you play are low end games like minecraft or lol then the acer is not a bad deal as well.

The main question comes to what kind of games you play. You could also look at the asus n series as they are a good alternative. Msi ge series is another one.
