[SOLVED] How will the Win11 upgrade be presented to me?

Well...a bit strange.

So, I've a system I know is fully Win11-ready but I don't want it. At least at first. So will the update be forced on me and I have to constantly be aware of when getting other updates I do want for Win10?

Will it be something I have to go ask for when I'm ready?

Will there be an update coming out for Win10 that I should be sure to get to stay current?

And what will happen to my older systems that are not Win11-ready, and never will be with older CPU's? Will there be any updates coming out for Win10 on those machines?

Win 10 will be fully supported until at least Oct 2025. All updates, etc will keep happening.

For Win 11, supposedly a capable system will see a notification in the Updates.
This will NOT...
The upgrade has never been forced onto anyone, as far as my memory with Microsoft, is concerned. You will be able to install the OS afresh like you can now, after creating a bootable USB installer for Windows 10, only difference is that the bootable installer with be for Windows 11. If there are any updates for Windows 10, they'll come up in the updates window on the OS. Just make sure that you've got your critical contents backed up in case they are located on C drive(or wherever the OS is installed) in case an update cripples your system.

This will NOT roll out to everyone on the appointed day, Oct 5. It is apparently going to be a months long process.

Yah..I'm fully aware Win10 will be supported for a long while yet.

I'm mainly interested in how the update will come down. I want to know if my "fully capable system" will be inundated with 'update now!' messages or always threatening to initiate the update if I don't stop it. I'm sure I'll do it, just not at the outset and only after the horrible and inevitable morass of problems have all worked their way through the 'fixit' process.

But since I'm also aware Win10 support will continue I'm wondering if there won't be something coming down for it at or around the same time. I'd want to get that update but only if I know it's not the Win11 upgrade I'm avoiding. I'd also expect that update for my "incapable" systems too.

Probably in a similar way, as it was presented to early insider access.

GREAT...I like that "Stay on Windows 10 for now" choice. Hopefully ticking it will make it a proper opt-out such that I have to go ask for it specifically when I'm ready.

Just a bit annoying they have the other button pre-selected for you. So a bleery eyed clumsy clicker like me to could easily fall in a trap hard to get out of.

And i'm constantly fighting problems for it. But at least I go looking for it so I also have myself to blame.

But kicking off an entire OS upgrade in a pushed software update is a bit more serious as recovery is not quite so simple as ticking the "uninstall" in "Add or Remove Programs" I suspect.
Right.
IIRC, Win 10 had the same.

"Upgrade now" or "Wait"
Of course, the Now was preselected by default.
