How good will this build work together? They are all compatible? No bottlenecking? Can I overclock this decently?

This is all compatible and will not bottleneck each other. I would change the motherboard to the Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0 or the Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 for better light overclocking. If you are going over light overclocking, I would go for the Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 motherboard or the ASRock 990FX Extreme 9.

Good budget board for overclocking = Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P

It has 8+2 phase power, LLC and decent cooling on the chipset and VRMs. Got my FX 6350 to 4.950GHz on this board with a Corsair H110 for cooling.


Good Midrange board for overclocking = Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3, or UD5

My personal favorite board for overclocking = ASUS Sabertooth 990FX


You will need good cooling to OC an FX 8 core CPU. So look at something like a Noctua NHD14 or Phanteks TC14PE.

If you have to drop to an FX-6300 to be able to afford the Gigabyte UD3P, do that. Good VRM cooling is what you need.

Yeah that's a good choice.

Maybe even better to choose an Intel i3-4150 combined with B85 motherboard.

You won't need an aftermarket cooler either and the performance will be either really similar or better in most games.

Depending on the games you play, the FX 6300 or even the 6350 can be a very good budget gaming CPU with a mild OC under that Hyper 212 EVO.

Here's a recent video showing the 6300 @ stock speeds hanging with an i5 4440 in modern games with a GTX 770.
