Right, so I'm reusing parts from my current PC, and I'm really just concerned about what I should actually DO when my new parts arrive and I put them all together.
I'm currently using the PC with Windows 10 on it. My PC was custom pre-built however it came with the disc for Windows 8 which is now upgraded to Windows 10. After some googling I ran a command which told me that my copy is a retail version not an OEM version, which is a good sign. I still have the card + the Windows 8 disc. (No product key on there though)
I will be using a completely different motherboard and CPU, but I will be keeping the same Hard Drive, Power Supply and Graphics Card. I talked to Windows Support and they told me to just literally plug the hard drive into the new build (???). But I've also seen other articles saying I need to run commands to unhook the windows licence or format the whole PC.
Since I won't be able to go back to the old PC build to sort out Windows on there, what should I do to keep Windows before I remove my PSU and my GPU for the new build? Can someone give me a step-by-step on this?
