Hi all,

So i recently purchased a 2x8gb kit of 4133mhz ram only to learn that my cpu does not support ram at speeds that fast. Is it possible to run my 4133mhz ram in combination with my current 2400mhz ram so i have 32gb of 2400mhz ram? I am a bit of a novice when it comes to ram/cpu stuff so any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Corsair Vengeance 2x8 GB 2400mhz DDR4 Ram

You won't be able to run at that frequency even with the higher spec'd kit, let alone when you mix and match ram kits.

What BIOS version are you on for your motherboard? The highest your motherboard and processor will be able to go is DDR4-3600MHz.

I am aware that i cannot run the 4133mhz ram but can i run the 4133mhz ram at a frequency of 2400mhz? Basically can i lower the frequency of the 2400mhz ram? I am not sure what version my bios is since it is a new motherboard but im planning on updating it to the latest tonight.

Honestly, your best bet, if you need the RAM, is to return the RAM you just got, sell your old RAM for a little bit of money, and get a 2x16 kit of 3600 MHz RAM. You're basically making a giant headache for yourself otherwise; you're hindering your new RAM by having to run it at 2400 MHz, you're diminishing your Ryzen by using slow RAM, and there's not even a guarantee that these sticks will ever work together in any case.
