I was just thinking about something recently. Computers make a lot of noise, but none would be heard at all if it was away from you. How would the pc work if instead of plugging things into USB ports on the pc, they were plugged into a USB 3.0 hub which was connected to a 30ft usb 3.0 extension cable to the pc? I imagine if this worked it'd be used a lot, but it isn't. Just wanna know the specifics of why it could/couldn't work.

Solution
Some people have tried things like putting their PC in an adjacent room, though computers don't need to be noisy if components are selected with that in mind. Plenty of components can make for a rather quiet system, though larger coolers that run quieter often do cost more than the bare minimum options that need to run their fans at high speeds to compensate for their small size.

And in many systems, it may simply be a matter of adjusting fan speeds so that they are not running at overkill levels. Most fans shouldn't be running anywhere near 100% speed unless it is absolutely necessary, and keeping them turned down can do a lot to cut down on noise.
